Our Story
The Ednova Quartet brings together four friends whose musical journeys have spanned continents and cultures, now united in Edmonton. They also perform together in the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra, bringing the depth, precision, and poise of their training to every performance.
Grounded in the richness of their classical artistry, the ensemble moves freely between jazz, folk, tango, pop, blues, and contemporary works alongside chamber repertoire. Each performance is energized by a sense of musical possibility that makes the music feel immediate and alive.
At the heart of Ednova Quartet is friendship and curiosity. Their collaboration unfolds through shared energy, spirited exploration, and a belief that music resonates most when it surprises and connects.
Anita Walsh, Violin
Anita joined the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra’s First Violins in 2022 and the Alberta Baroque Ensemble in 2025. With a career shaped by a deep dedication to expressive collaboration and curiosity, Anita believes that the performing arts serve as a powerful catalyst for shaping healthy and vibrant community identities. Guided by this belief, she has found that her most meaningful musical experiences often take place off stage and in unconventional settings. Her favorite projects so far have infused music with physics, culinary arts, yoga, and health concepts, incorporating social engagement practices to explore intersections of art, health, and leisure. She has delivered programming in settings as diverse as federal prisons, shopping centres, yoga studios, hospices, the Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics, and the Addiction Recovery Centre. In these endeavors, she has collaborated with the Canadian Mental Health Association, Alzheimer’s Society, University of Alberta, Health Arts Society of Alberta, and Autism Ontario. Since moving to Edmonton with her husband and two exuberant young boys, Anita has become a big fan of the city’s incredible River Valley Trail network, the Edmonton Public Library, and the Edmonton Oilers!
Clayton Leung, Viola
Clayton Leung is an accomplished musician who has established a strong presence in the vibrant Edmonton arts scene. He has graced the stages of organizations such as the Alberta Baroque Society, Chamber Orchestra of Edmonton, Early Music Alberta, Edmonton Chamber Music Society, Edmonton Recital Society and the Edmonton Opera Association. Clayton’s musical journey has taken him beyond national borders, as he has performed with various ensembles both nationally and internationally. Notable performances include a European tour with Kent Sangster’s Obsession's Jazz Octet, a live concert on PBS at Rochester International Jazz Festival, a lecture recital at the 50th International Viola Congress in Paris and a guest violist on Lafayette String Quartet’s farewell tour. Additionally, he recently released an album of commissioned works by Canadian composers with Calgary’s Kensington Sinfonia ‘Forces of Nature’. Clayton’s musical prowess led him to join the esteemed Edmonton Symphony Orchestra in 2013, where he has taken on various leadership roles and captivated audiences as a soloist in performances of renowned works such as W. A. Mozart’s Sinfonia Concertante, Max Bruch’s Romance, and Peteris Vasks' viola concerto. Clayton is actively involved in the community as a proud member of Concerts in Care Alberta, which brings live music to retirement residences across the Province. He is a dedicated teacher, guest lecturer and adjudicator in the performing arts festivals of Alberta. He is also featured in local magazines: YEG fitness and Modern Luxuria representing health, wellness and music. Prior to his time in Edmonton, Clayton honed his craft as the principal violist with the Newfoundland Symphony Orchestra and as a member of the Atlantic String Quartet. His musical journey began in Fort Langley BC, where he embarked on violin lessons at the Langley Community Music School. Clayton furthered his studies at the University of Victoria before delving into the world of viola at the University of Minnesota and the Cleveland Institute of Music, solidifying his reputation as a versatile and accomplished musician.
Buon Park, Violin
Violinist Buon Park joined the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra in 2022, bringing with her a distinguished international career spanning Korea and Canada. In Korea, she held leadership roles as Second Principal with the Seocho Philharmonic Orchestra and Guest Principal with the Gyeonggi Philharmonic, and appeared with the APO Asia Philharmonic Orchestra under Maestro Myung-whun Chung. A highly sought-after chamber musician, she served as principal with the Anima Chamber Music Series and performed with the KT Chamber Ensemble and the Tongyeong TIMF Ensemble. Buon earned her bachelor’s degree from Seoul National University and her master’s degree from Yonsei University, receiving honors scholarships at both institutions. In Canada, she completed her Artist Diploma at the Glenn Gould School in Toronto as a scholarship recipient, studying with Barry Shiffman and Erika Raum. She has performed at leading festivals such as the Montreal Chamber Music Festival and Music by the Sea, and was a winner of the Glenn Gould School Chamber Music Competition. She also appeared as concertmaster in Richard Strauss’s Ein Heldenleben with the Royal Conservatory Orchestra at Koerner Hall under Bramwell Tovey. Alongside her performing career, Buon is a dedicated educator whose students have excelled in competitions and advanced to leading music programs.
Originally from Victoria BC, Meran Currie-Roberts has had a successful career across Canada as a cellist, fundraiser, arts administrator and teacher. She is currently the Executive Director of Concerts in Care Alberta as well as a cellist with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra. As a chamber musician, Meran has played for the Edmonton Recital Society, Festival of the Sound, Elora Festival, Festival Ibero Americano, Music at Port Milford, Jeunesses Musicales Canada, Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival, Kincardine Festival and Festival Vancouver. She made her solo debut with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra in 2020, playing Jocelyn Morlock's Solace. After graduating with a B.Mus and M.Mus from the University of Toronto, Meran was an active cellist and teacher in the Toronto area. She frequently appeared with the Kitchener-Waterloo, Thunder Bay, and Windsor Symphonies. Meran moved to Winnipeg with her young family in 2009, quickly establishing herself with an appointment as Dean of the Manitoba Conservatory of Music and Arts. She was responsible for a music faculty of over forty teachers, as well as programming for locations in Winnipeg and Steinbach. She started a multi-generational fiddle program at the MCMA as well as running outreach programs in three schools in Winnipeg’s inner-city. With a move to Calgary in 2011, Meran was initially responsible for the education and outreach programs at the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra. Her fundraising success led to an invitation to move to Alberta Ballet, where she managed corporate and individual giving. Throughout her years as a full-time administrator, Meran continued to play cello, performing with the Winnipeg Symphony and CPO. With her family’s move to Edmonton in 2015, Meran was delighted to join the rich cultural fabric that is our city and Treaty 6 territory. In 2016, along with a dedicated board, Meran established Concerts in Care Alberta as an active musical force and registered charity that brings over 450 professional concerts to elders in care annually. With a roster of over 150 musicians and more than 100 partner care facilities, the organization subsidizes the cost of professional artists so that marginalized elders have access to the same high-quality music that the general public enjoys. Meran joined the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra after a successful audition in 2018. She lives with her two kids, and their two cats, and spends her spare time training for marathons, baking bread, and visiting her public library branch to support her reading habit.
